The Pet Blessing
proved to be a great success and one we hope to repeat each year!
Why do we bless our pets? Because animals
are a part of God's creation and are loved by God.
The love we receive from our pets and the love we are able to show them is
one way we can begin to understand God's grace and unconditional love toward us (though we are not God's pets!).
Animals play
important roles witin the Biblical tradition and continue to shape our understanding of the world today. Offering a blessing to our
pets is not only a way to acknowledge our love for them, but also a way to acknowledge the important rold they play in our lives and
importance of all animals as part of God's creation by the grace of God, the love of Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit.
